The article we’re presenting about, “Gov. Newsome plans to convert EDD headquarters and 2 more downtown Sacramento office buildings into housing,” originally appeared in KCRA 3, on January 31, 2023 and was written by Daniel Macht, Digital Media Manager. Thank you!
In total, it is hoped that 1,000 units will planned to be built, after current tenants move out in 2025, by combining units within 3 buildings. At least 20% of the units would be set aside for affordable [housing] …including at least 10% for very low income persons.
KCRA 3 spoke with Bob Erlenbusch, the Executive Director of the Sacramento Regional Coalition to End Homelessness who questioned how “affordable” this housing will be stating also:
“We need it all.”
“We need housing for people experiencing homelessness, we need housing for people on fixed incomes like veterans benefits or disability, and workforce development housing as well.”
