It’s Happening…

Jacque Fresco, a futurist, imaged a world without suffering and undue poverty and set out to make it happen. He envisioned the Venus Project, a futuristic concept of new cities where people had full access to resources (which he believed was the root of all problems) and began building in 1976. The plan is being carried out by Roxanne Meadows,  his long time partner and companion who met Mr. Fresco at the age of 27. The goal Ms. Meadow’s is carrying on is to leave future generations with an equitable society by creating equitably built cities and carry the torch of Mr. Fresco’s dreams, who passed at the age of 101.  The plan continues…

Roxanne Meadows ’s, now 68, feels she’s just getting started stating “We just put up a new project and new call for architects, engineers and technicians.  It’s the next stepping stone to solving these entrenched problems of scarcity, poverty, and violence.” The Venus Project is located in Highlands County Florida.

Mr. Fresco had earlier hitchhiked to California, became an aircraft designer, architect, research engineer and prop man for sci-fi films, and used those skills to solve what he believed was the cause of suffering, access.  He set out to make access to resources accessible to all, and limitations imposed by travel or transportation by creating a circular community or city. There, vital resources would be available, and by scaling down raw materials, minimized the cost to build. In 2016, Mr. Fresco received an award for city design and community at the UN’s NOVUS Summit.
